Team Brazil by Claure Group surged to pole position in a thrilling qualifying session ahead of the E1 Lagos GP presented by FirstBank, as the world’s first all-electric raceboat championship makes history with its debut on the African continent.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Lagos Lagoon, the pioneering race series marks a major milestone for Nigeria, reinforcing its growing reputation as a global destination for world-class sporting events.

The dramatic qualifying session concluded with Team Brazil securing the top spot, edging out Team Rafa and Aoki Racing Team, and setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown on Sunday, October 5.
With two points awarded for second place, Rafael Nadal’s Team Rafa reclaimed the championship lead by a single point over Team Brady, whose campaign was derailed by technical issues that ended their bid for pole position.
The championship battle remains finely poised, and Sunday’s race could prove decisive as Team Brady fights to defend its crown.

Rodi Basso, Founder and CEO of E1, praised the energy and hospitality of Lagos, expressing pride in the city’s role as host of this landmark event.
“The warm welcome we’ve received in Lagos has been incredible. The people and passion of Nigeria have made this historic E1 Lagos GP presented by FirstBank possible, and I feel a great sense of pride that we’ve made racing here a reality.”
“Our ambition is to build a motorsport legacy in Africa. This weekend’s race is just the beginning, and today’s qualifying sessions have provided a thrilling taste of what’s to come.”
Sunday’s race is expected to draw thousands of spectators to the waterfront, as excitement builds across Lagos. African football legend Didier Drogba and his partner Gabrielle Lemaire, instrumental in bringing E1 to the continent, will be in attendance to support Team Drogba Global Africa as the championship continues its groundbreaking journey.

With electric speedboats, celebrity-owned teams, and a dynamic host city, the E1 Lagos GP promises a spectacular fusion of sport, innovation, and culture—ushering in a new era of clean-energy motorsport on African waters.
