Asante Kotoko head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has confidently declared that his side will overcome Nigeria’s Kwara United in the first stage of the preliminary round of the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Ghanaian giants have been drawn against Kwara United in what promises to be a thrilling two-legged tie scheduled for next month. The first leg will take place in Ghana between September 19 and 21, with the return fixture in Nigeria set for September 26 to 28.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Zito expressed his determination to guide Kotoko to the next stage of the competition.

“Every club that qualifies for this competition is strong. I faced Kwara United during my time with Dreams FC,” he said.

“It’s a tough fixture, but we will do everything possible to eliminate them.”

The winner of the tie will advance to face Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca in the second round of the preliminary stage.
