The MTN CHAMPS Grand Final concluded with a dazzling display of athletic prowess at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The event, spanning four days, culminated in the announcement of the Top 10 Most Valuable Performers (MVPs), a highlight of the closing ceremony attended by dignitaries such as the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, and MTN executives.
The final day featured thrilling competitions in the 200m, 800m, and High Jump across four age categories.
Faith Odumoso stole the spotlight in the Senior Women’s category, completing a sprint double with a victory in the 200m at 24.17s.

She was followed by Team MTN’s Miracle Donald, who achieved a Personal Best (PB) of 24.45s for Silver, and Jane Onyeneho, who took Bronze with 24.48s.
In the men’s 200m final, Bayelsa’s Akumodogiyo Shalom George claimed the title, while Victor Marcus Williams and Pelumi Emmanuel Adesunloro secured Silver and Bronze, respectively.
Faith Chukwuma continued her impressive form in the Junior Women’s category, dominating the 200m to win her second medal of the competition, having earlier secured Bronze in the 100m. Team MTN’s Lucy Nwankwo and Team MVP’s Tejiri Ugoh followed in second and third place.
Team MTN’s Ezekiel Asuquo showcased his versatility by capturing his second title of the competition. After winning the 400m, he returned to claim GOLD in the 200m with a swift 21.39s, defeating Liberty Okon and Goodluck Johnbull.
The Youth Girls’ 200m final saw a commanding performance from Bernice Onoriode, who led a Team MVP sweep with a lifetime best of 25.52s to secure her sprint double.
Goodnews Saturday earned her second straight Silver in a PB of 25.56s, while Rebecca Enilolobo clocked 25.87s for Bronze.

Onyemech Peter Onoriode was the standout performer in the Youth Boys’ race, clocking a PB of 22.74s for the win.
Team MVP’s Destiny Reuben and Seriki Kehinde Opemipo claimed Silver and Bronze, respectively. Ebimoboere Christopher led a Team MVP clean sweep in the Cadet Girls’ 200m final, racing to GOLD in a new PB of 26.52s, followed by teammates Abigael Ogunbowale and Nneoma Okonkwo.
Abdulaleem Abdulsalam continued his remarkable run in the Cadet Boys’ 200m, blazing to victory in 24.96s. His teammate, David Ekunwe earned Silver, while Aunty Iso’s Kingsley Prosper rounded out the podium with Bronze.
Akwa Ibom secured a 1-3 finish in the men’s 800m final courtesy of Inimfon Akaso (2:04.76s, PB) and Edidiong Udotong (2:06.46, PB), while Solomon Josiah of Real Overcomers took Silver with a PB of 2:04.94.
Saviour Alexander dominated the Junior men’s class in 2:04.31s (PB), with Samson Tebowei of Sam-Kay (2:05.02) and John Kingsley taking second and third, respectively.
Team MVP’s Elizabeth Olumide (2:14.65, PB), Team MTN’s Patience Joseph (2:20.72, PB), and Esther Nwankwo (2:26.62, PB) were the Top 3 finishers in the Junior women’s race.

In the Youth Girls’ High Jump event, Karo Onisuru (1.45m), Favour Owivri (1.45m), and Victoria Ita Fredy emerged as the top performers. Clergy Edet won the Senior women’s title, while Chukwuemeka Alozie took GOLD in the men’s event.
Team MVP dominated the Cadet Boys’ and Girls’ and Youth Boys’ and Girls’ 4x100m events, while Team MTN excelled in the Junior and Senior categories.
