Anthony Joshua remains steadfast in his pursuit of a long-awaited clash with British rival Tyson Fury.

Despite Fury’s retirement, the Daily Mail reports that he might be enticed back into the ring for a ‘generational’ Battle of Britain, a matchup that has always thrilled fans.

Fury retired for the fourth time in January after his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

However, speculation about a comeback has grown as Fury has resumed full training. His promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged the fight’s potential, reminding fans that “you never know what can happen in boxing.”

When asked about the potential fight while attending Canelo Alvarez’s victory over William Scull in Riyadh, Joshua humorously deflected, saying, “We’ll save that conversation for another time. Same answer as always, nothing’s changed.”

Joshua needs to regain full fitness before any serious discussions about a Fury bout can occur. He hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Daniel Dubois in five rounds at Wembley Stadium on September 21, a match where he was dropped multiple times.

Currently dealing with an injury, Joshua told DAZN that he requires elbow surgery, which will keep him out of the gym for 6-8 weeks. “As soon as I’m healed, I’ll be back,” he assured fans.

Joshua emphasized the importance of his recovery, stating, “My body has been through a lot. If I want to be here for a long time, I need to make sure my body is good before getting back into the ring. I’m still training, just rebuilding.”

Reflecting on his recent performances, Joshua admitted, “To be good is not enough in boxing. If you want to be a world champion, you’ve got to be great. I need to step my game up.”
