A provisional list announcing the MTN CHAMPS’ Team MVP Top 40 athletes has been released ahead of the MTN CHAMPS Season 3 Grand Final, which will be held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from May 6 to 9, 2025.
Team MVP for the MTN CHAMPS Grand Final in Uyo represents 10 different states, based on where the MVPs attend school and reside. Ogun State leads with 12 of the 40 MVPs, followed by Delta and Lagos with 8 each, Edo and Oyo with 2 each, and Bayelsa, Kaduna, Ondo, and Rivers with 1 each.
Among the 30 secondary schools represented in Team MVP, 7 schools have more than one athlete invited. Anglican Comprehensive in Ogun State leads with 3 athletes. Six schools each have 2 athletes: Delta Secondary and Government Model (Delta), Greensprings and ISL (Lagos), Makun High (Ogun), and Vision High (Anambra). Additionally, 23 schools nationwide have 1 athlete each on Team MVP for the Grand Final.
Ogun State tops the list with 8 secondary schools represented on Team MVP, followed by Lagos with 6 schools, Delta with 5, Anambra with 3, and Edo and Oyo with 2 each. Bayelsa, Kaduna, Ondo, and Rivers each have 1 school represented.
All roads and flights will lead to Uyo for the MTN CHAMPS Grand Final from May 6-9. The 40 athletes invited will compete on 7 MVP Teams across Cadet, Youth, and Junior categories, testing their mettle against the nation’s best athletes. The Team MVP athletes will be unveiled with their new kit at the Press Conference in Uyo on Monday, May 5.
