Day 2 of the MTN CHAMPS Benin Athletics Classics was bustling with activity, featuring multiple finals at both the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and UNIBEN Sports Complex on Friday, March 14th.

The finals included the 100m and 400m races across all age categories, men’s and women’s Long Jump, Junior and Senior High Jump, and the 200m heats.

in the Junior Men’s 400m: Gafar Badmus set a Personal Best (PB) of 46.50s to win, followed by Eniola Shiro (47.18s PB) and David Akhalu (47.40s).

Miracle Sonny improved her PB to win in 53.91s in the Junior Women’s 400m, while Victoria Olaniyi (54.97s) and Success Okoro (55.39s) trailed.

In the Senior Men’s 400m, Benjamin Magaji claimed gold with a PB of 48.04s, ahead of Bright Benson (48.56s) and Emmanuel Baraburu (48.63s).

For the Senior Women’s 400m, Miracle Uwem finished first in 55.05s, followed by Rita Munachiso (55.34s) and Rhoda Adisa (55.58s).

In the Senior Men’s 200m Heats, Emmanuel Ojeli led with a Nigerian outdoor Leading time of 20.96s, while in the Senior Women’s 200m Heats, Sophia Efetobore clocked a PB of 23.92s to become the fastest qualifier.

In the Junior Men’s 200m Heats, David Akhalu led with a PB of 21.43s, while in Women’s  Heats, Success Oyibu ran a PB of 24.03s.

For the Senior Men’s 100m Final,  Chidera Ezeakor won in 10.60s, narrowly beating Jeremiah Nathaniel (10.63s) and Daje Lucky (10.66s).

In the Senior Women’s 100m Final, Sophia Efetobore continued her fine form to win in 11.52s, followed by Faith Osamuyi (11.62s) and Odumosu Kate (11.71s).

In the Junior Men’s 100m Final, John Caleb took the title in 10.63s, with Abdulrahman Jimoh (10.84s) and Wilfred Jimoh (10.86s) in second and third.

For the Junior Women’s 100m Final, Cynthia Chioma edged Success Oyibu to win in 11.84s, with Oyibu (11.86s) and Mmesoma Thankgod Ezeobi (Bronze) close behind.

The Cadet Boys’ 100m was dominated by Elom Kosi with a time of 13.05s.

In the Cadet Girls’ 100m, Ebimoboere Christopher was moved to tears as she won in 12.95s, with Ella Udumubrai and Oluwatimileyin Fatore taking Silver and Bronze.

In the Field Events, Ibukun Daramola won with a distance of 7.66m in the Senior Men’s Long Jump, followed by Martins Ugwu (7.30m) and Jeffrey Miracle (7.24m).

In the Junior Men’s Long Jump, Gowon Oghenerunor took the title with 7.20m, ahead of Anthony Lucky (7.02m) and Blessed Longlife (6.58m).

For the Senior Women’s Long Jump, Mary Adeiran won with 5.97m, followed by Otoaruoh Mary (5.27m) and Glory Jarrett (5.22m).

In the Junior Women’s High Jump, Francess Ajagbawa won with a height of 1.65m, followed by Ayuba Orahaci (1.62m) and Juliana Temitope (1.53m).

Emmanuella Kane achieved a PB of 40.31m to win gold in the Senior Women’s Discus narrowly beating Ruqqayah Kemi Mustapha (40.30m SB).
