The International School, University of Lagos (ISL) is set to host its 34th annual inter-house athletics competition on Thursday, January 30. This eagerly anticipated one-day event will see the defending champions, School House, compete against Senate, Bursary, Chancellery, Registry, and Congregation Houses. The event will be chaired by Mr. Ayibo Josephus Roberts.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, will grace the occasion as the special guest of honour. Athletes will vie for top positions in various sprint and relay events.
Head of Sports, Ijeoma Ernest, highlighted the significance of the meet, noting that it has consistently produced top athletes, some of whom have secured admissions to foreign schools due to their exceptional performances. “We are excited to host our inter-house athletics meet this year. Our students are eagerly looking forward to it, and I believe we will witness the best of athletics during the grand finale,” Ernest remarked.
In the previous edition, School House emerged victorious with 10 gold, 7 silver, and 11 bronze medals. Senate House followed closely with 8 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while Bursary secured third place with 8 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze medals. Chancellery, Registry, and Congregation Houses finished in fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively.
