Held at the indoor sports hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, this marks the third edition of the championship since its inception in 2022 under the Bet9ja platform.

“We are committed to this as it is part of our cardinal programmes,” remarked Adaobi Cuomo, Vice Chairman of the Bet9ja Foundation.

She emphasized that the foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of Nigerians through various programs and initiatives that address the unique needs of diverse communities.

The Bet9ja Southeast Badminton Championship is one of many projects aimed at providing access to quality healthcare, supporting educational opportunities, promoting sports development, facilitating community projects, and empowering youth to achieve their full potential.

Yetunde Osunnuga, the Bet9ja Agents Liaison Officer, revealed that the foundation currently has 160 projects across 31 states in Nigeria, impacting 150 communities with an investment exceeding N587 million.

The championship is already yielding impressive results. Jeremiah Chigozie, a product of the last edition, made history at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Despite physical challenges, Chigozie perfected his skills at the championship and became the first Nigerian male player to compete at the global event.

Previous editions have also seen champions like Anambra State’s Jovita Anakwe and Queen Chibuzor, now representing Abia State, who have excelled in the singles’ categories.
