Foundation Science were victorious on the final day of MTN CHAMPS Jos, making away with two team trophies in the youth boys’ and girls’ categories.
Buoyed by the performance of thrower Dorcas Olaolu and sprinters, Juliet Ikhianosimhe and Felicia Adebayo, the girls’ team accumulated a total of 90 points, securing a flawless victory over G.S.S Township in 2nd with 53 points.
Nigerian Tulip’s sole entrant, Adaeze Eze, single-handedly scored an amazing 30 points by winning three gold medals to put her school in 3rd place overall.
In the boys’ category, Faruk Kasim and Ibrahim Saidu both won gold and silver medals, helping their team to 54 points to see off Sunshine International that finished 2nd with 42 points. F.G.C Jos B came third with 37 points.
Sunshine International made a glorious finish to the competition in the cadet girls’ category, totaling 48 points to emerge champions.
Despite having just one gold medal winner in the form of Gracious Ubung Sunday in the high jump, they had a cast of finalists in every event who scored to help the team finish on top and ahead of Baptist Science Grammar School that finished 2nd with 26 points and Hopefill Famep with 22 points.
In the same vein, Model Learning secured a run-away victory in the cadet boys’ category, scoring a huge 82 points.
The Buhari brothers, Sagir and Idris, won gold in the long jump and high jump respectively and were very instrumental to the school’s performance as they won three of the available six gold medals.
G.S.S Sabon-Tasha was second with 41 points, while Baptist Science Grammar School got third place with 26 points.
Diamond Ray won the junior (mixed) trophy with 97 points ahead of Coach Felix Foundation with 80 points and Dynamic in third with 69 points.
On the Senior’s side, Coach Felix Foundation dominated, scoring 76 points ahead of NSCDC in 2nd with 40 points, just ahead of High Altitude with 38 to finish 3rd.
The MTN CHAMPS train moves to Calabar from Tuesday, April 30 to May 3, for the grand finale.
