The Lekan Salami Stadium and University of Ibadan Sports Complex will come alive for the season 2 of the MTN CHAMPS as the Ibadan leg of the Inter-School Competition takes off from April 5 to 8 in Oyo State, with over 3000 athletes expected to compete at the event.

OGUN 2024

As at April 1, 6499 event entries were received from 2636 Athletes across 153 Secondary Schools and 128 Junior and Senior Teams.

MTN CHAMPS Ibadan which is the second leg of Season 2 of the School Athletics Competition, and will feature 92 Track & Field events across 4 Age Categories, with over 300 Medals and 6 School/Team trophies to be won.

Cadet (U14): 12 Events (5 individual & 1 relay each for Boys & Girls – Junior Secondary Schools only):

4 Track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m); 2 Field events (Long Jump & High Jump)

Youth (U17); 20 Events (9 individual & 1 relay each for Boys & Girls – Senior Secondary Schools only):5 Track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 4x100m)5 Field events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put and Discus)

Juniors (U20); 29 Events (13 individual & 1 relay each for Boys & Girls and Mixed 4x400m):9 Track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 100/110mH Hurdles, 400mH, 4x100m for Boys & Girls as well as Mixed 4x400m which is 2 Boys and 2 Girls on same team)6 Field events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus & Javelin)

Seniors (No age restrictions); 31 Events (13 individual & 2 relays each for Men & Women and Mixed 4x400m):10 Track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 100m/110mH Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, and both 4x100m AND 4x400m for Men & Women as well as Mixed 4x400m – 2 Men and 2 Women per team); 6 Field events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin Throw)

All Registered Schools/Athletes are expected to pick up their competition bibs to confirm their participation on April 3 and 4, at the Lekan Salami Stadium to remain on their event startlists. All athletes under the age of 21 are expected to print the one-page parental consent form for their parent or legal guardian to sign and return at bib collection – a recognized contact of each Athletes’ School/Team should coordinate collection of their bibs and the return of their signed parental consent forms.
