Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has poked fun at Tottenham after helping Fulham strike a blow to Spurs’ chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

According to Express of London, the north Londoners missed a huge opportunity to take control of fourth place in the Premier League after losing 3-0 to the Cottagers.

Iwobi, who made 149 appearances for Arsenal, played 82 minutes in the home victory over Spurs.

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz scored either side of a Sasa Lukic goal to give the west Londoners their most impressive triumph of the campaign.

Spurs had thrashed fourth-placed Aston Villa 4-0 last weekend to move within two points of the Midlands side. They also have a game in hand over the Villans – meaning that victory over Fulham could have put them in strong contention to qualify for the Champions League.

However, one of the most disappointing displays of the Ange Postecoglou era ended in a dismal defeat.

Iwobi was quick to taunt his former north London rivals after the game. The 27-year-old wrote on X: “London derby wins are always nice.”

Spurs captain Son Heung-min gave his players a sensational public dressing down after the game. He told each of his team-mates to “look in the mirror”, questioning their effort and attitude. The forward slammed the result as “two steps backwards” after the commanding victory over Villa.

“It is very disappointing and very frustrating. Everybody has to look in the mirror and say, ‘it is my fault’,” Son told Sky Sports in a scathing take-down.

“It was not good enough. We didn’t put in the effort we have put in this season. The performance, the attitude was not good enough. Everyone needs a big wake-up call.
