National champion Felix Lartey of Ghana has won his fourth Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) award after being named the male table tennis player of the year at the 48th edition of the longest running award in Ghana.

SWAG is the umbrella body of sports journalists in Ghana and the award is an occasion and event to celebrate sports excellence and it is the longest running award scheme in Ghana that rewards top performing Sports Men and Women consistently since 1975 and recognizes the efforts of persons involved in Sports development.

This year’s edition took place at the Accra International Conference Center on Friday, January 12, with the nation’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia being the special guest of the night.
Apart from being named the Administrator of the Year, Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) under the leadership Mawuko Afadzinu was adjudged the best national sports federation of the player.
Lartey who has been one of the most consistent athletes in Ghana was recognised for his philanthropic gesture outside the sport apart from his performance on table.
With the 2023 SWAG Award now added to his laurels, Lartey has now won his fourth award having won the 2011, 2012 and 2015 editions.

For his efforts to improve the fortunes of table tennis in Ghana, Afadzinu was named the Administrator of the Year having organised several laudable programmes to raise the profile of table tennis in the West African nation. Apart from Lartey, teenage sensation Juanita Borteye was named the SWAG Female Prospect of the Year.
