Quadri Aruna has been listed among the top 30 table tennis stars across the globe expected to compete at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Macao 2022 from tomorrow to October 23.

According to WTT, the tentpole event will gather the top 30 men and women stars from the ITTF World Table Tennis Rankings as well as one wildcard and one WTT Nomination to do battle in Infinity Arena.

The stakes are high with the athletes vying for a share of the $800,000 prize money on offer, as well as the 1000 World Ranking points to be handed out to the winners.

The tournament serves as leeway for the likes of Aruna to compete at the end-of-the-year WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang 2022.

WTT Champions Macao will also provide the last opportunity for players to qualify for WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang 2022. With just 16 spots available and $1m prize money on offer in Xinxiang, the pressure is on as each win in Macao will send athletes closer to qualifying for a berth at the WTT Series pinnacle event.

With all eyes firmly set on WTT Champions Macao, Aruna will again be aiming for another history in Macao, being the first and only African to play in the semifinal of the WTT Series.

Other leading the entry list will be China’s Wang Manyu and Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto who made WTT history by winning the inaugural edition of the event at WTT Champions European Summer Series 2022 in Budapest earlier this year. Singapore Smash winners and world number one China’s Fan Zhendong and Chen Meng will also be out in force looking to add another title to their collection.

Fans will also be excited to see world and Olympic champion Ma Long, out on the table aiming to add some more silverware to his legendary career. Meanwhile, the event will also host stars Sweden’s Truls Moregard, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, Japan’s Mima Ito and Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz as they light up Infinity Arena in a bid for WTT Series glory.
